Oracle Brings ChatGPT and Codex Into Its Enterprise Apps

A sunlit modern office with an open laptop on a wooden desk beside a large window overlooking trees and apartment buildings, warm daylight casting soft shadows on the wall, with the headline ORACLE + OPENAI AI SUITE, the orange subline ChatGPT & Codex in enterprise apps, and an AIWithRahish badge in the bottom-right corner

At Oracle AI World in Las Vegas on October 27, 2026, Oracle announced a major collaboration with OpenAI to embed frontier models, ChatGPT, and Codex into Oracle applications, data, and cloud infrastructure, according to an Oracle press release. The companies framed the move as putting AI directly into the systems that run large parts of the global economy—not a sidecar chat window, but workflows, security testing, app building, and startup tooling wired to Oracle's stack. An expanded product suite spans enterprise operations, application development, cybersecurity, and business creation.

What was announced

Oracle and OpenAI are expanding their partnership into a product suite aimed at four jobs: running business through ChatGPT, hardening security with AI-driven testing, turning employee ideas into governed applications, and giving small businesses an integrated AI foundation from day one. OpenAI models sit alongside Oracle Fusion Applications, NetSuite, the Oracle AI Database, and OCI.

Oracle and OpenAI share an ambition, described in the release, to set a standard for the agent-ready enterprise—partnering across the innovation cycle to transform Oracle applications for agents and bring them into a unified ChatGPT experience.

Oracle CEO Clay Magouyrk said OpenAI is "transforming how enterprises solve business problems, from chat, to coding, to analytics, to autonomous agents," and that the new suite unites those capabilities with Oracle applications, data, and cloud infrastructure. OpenAI president and co-founder Greg Brockman said the expanded Oracle partnership puts frontier AI into everyday operations so teams can build software faster, strengthen security, and take on more complex knowledge work.

The four products

Oracle AI Workspace combines OpenAI frontier models with Oracle apps, enterprise data, and cloud services in one experience. Plugins in ChatGPT on Oracle AI Workspace let employees pull information, complete approved workflows, and act on Oracle systems across Fusion Applications, NetSuite, Oracle AI Database, OCI, and other tools—while keeping governance, approvals, and controls. Users describe business goals; plugins assemble the right Oracle tools and data inside ChatGPT.

Oracle AI Security Mesh is a managed service using OpenAI cyber models to find and fix vulnerabilities across OCI, other clouds, and on-premises environments before attackers exploit them. Oracle pairs OpenAI cyber models with its testing tools, validation, infrastructure, and safeguards so customers need not build their own agentic offensive/defensive systems. Customers define authorized scope; Oracle manages safeguards to limit outage or disruption risk during testing.

Oracle App Composer helps employees turn recurring business problems into enterprise apps without deep coding skills. Users build with Codex; Oracle runs deployment on OCI, connects approved Oracle data and workflows, and exposes services such as OCI Kubernetes Engine and Oracle Autonomous AI Database under identity, permissions, networking, audit, and lifecycle controls. The release also highlights APEXlang for generative speed without opaque, hard-to-maintain code.

Oracle AI SMB Bundle is free-to-start and includes $12,000 in Oracle cloud credits each year. It bundles ChatGPT Business, Oracle AI Workspace, Codex, Oracle App Composer, OCI deployment, and NetSuite QuickStart for invoicing and cash flow. Terms, conditions, and restrictions apply.

What it means for businesses and developers

For operations teams, AI Workspace makes ChatGPT a governed front door to Fusion and NetSuite instead of shadow copilots that bypass approvals. Security Mesh productizes AI-assisted testing across hybrid estates with customer-controlled scope. App Composer and Codex on OCI target governed citizen development; APEXlang is the maintainability story. The SMB bundle packs ChatGPT Business, workspace access, builders, and NetSuite basics behind annual credits. Competing cloud ERP and SaaS vendors will watch whether Oracle's ChatGPT-native plugins become the default interface for finance and supply-chain staff already living in Fusion or NetSuite.

What we don't know yet

The Oracle announcement does not provide general availability dates for AI Workspace, Security Mesh, App Composer, or the SMB bundle beyond describing them as new offerings at AI World. It also does not publish list pricing for the enterprise products—only the SMB bundle's free-to-start positioning and the stated $12,000 annual Oracle cloud credits. Regional rollout, required licenses, and which OpenAI model tiers ship in each product are left unstated. Oracle points customers to AI World sessions, oracle.com/ai-world, and oracle.com/news for follow-on detail rather than a single enrollment calendar in the release.
