San Francisco-based generative media inference company fal (fal.ai; legal name Features & Labels Inc.) on Nov. 3, 2026 announced a Series F led by Bessemer Venture Partners, alongside an earlier Series E led by Sequoia Capital. Bloomberg reported that the Series F raised $1.3 billion and valued fal at $16 billion, double the $8 billion mark from April. fal said the two rounds total $1.65 billion combined, according to TechCrunch and SiliconANGLE; fal's own post, which says the rounds will fund work across its ecosystem in 2027, does not state dollar amounts or valuation.

The round

In a November 2026 post, fal says it closed a Series E led by Sequoia Capital earlier in 2026 and is announcing that round alongside the Series F led by Bessemer, with continued investment from Nvidia. Bessemer's Nov. 3 note says it leads the Series F, first backed fal at the Series B about two years ago, and has participated in every round since.

According to Bloomberg, as cited by TechCrunch and SiliconANGLE, the Series F totals $1.3 billion and sets a $16 billion valuation, up from $8 billion in April when Bloomberg reported a $350 million Series E. SiliconANGLE adds that proceeds will go toward computing power and hiring beyond fal's 185 employees, and that Bessemer partner Talia Goldberg joins the board.

What fal does

fal runs a cloud platform for image, video, and audio generation models. Developers reach thousands of models through a single API, and model labs use fal for distribution and serverless infrastructure, Bessemer says. fal says entertainment studios, advertising agencies, e-commerce brands, game developers, and marketing teams run image, video, and audio models, including fal's own, inside production pipelines.

Bessemer notes that image and video models refine a whole frame over many passes, so they need memory, compute, and latency handled differently from LLM serving. Bessemer names Adobe, Canva, Shopify, World Labs, and Amazon among companies that have moved production volume to fal, and cites fal Research releasing H3 Max in August plus a Flux 3 Max partnership with Black Forest Labs.

Who invested

Bessemer leads the Series F; Sequoia led the April Series E. TechCrunch reports participation from Nvidia, Sound Ventures, and T. Rowe Price, with HOF Capital also listed by SiliconANGLE. fal described Nvidia as a strategic investor, according to SiliconANGLE. fal was co-founded in 2021 by Burkay Gur (formerly Coinbase machine learning and Oracle) and Gorkem Yurtseven (formerly Amazon), per TechCrunch.

Why inference demand matters

TechCrunch, citing Bloomberg, notes that fal surpassed $800 million in annualized revenue earlier in 2026. Gur told Bloomberg that demand surged enough that fal had to rate-limit customers in summer, saying: “We hit a point in summer where we were not able to serve our customers and had to rate-limit them.” He said pretraining a model of fal's own is not on the near-term agenda but did not rule it out later.

TechCrunch places fal among inference providers such as Baseten, Fireworks AI, and Modal that have raised large rounds recently, with gross margins across the sector remaining thin because compute is expensive, according to people familiar with those companies' financials. Fireworks AI closed $1.5 billion at a $17.5 billion valuation in July, SiliconANGLE notes.

The rounds so far

SiliconANGLE, citing Bloomberg, lists a December round of $140 million at a $4.5 billion valuation, the April Series E at $350 million and $8 billion, and the Nov. 3 Series F at $1.3 billion and $16 billion. Investors have now put more than $1.9 billion into the company, SiliconANGLE reports, while fal said Series E and F together total $1.65 billion, per SiliconANGLE.

What it means

Analysis (ours). Generative media inference is splitting from general LLM clouds: frame-wise video and diffusion-style image work needs different scheduling and memory than token streaming, which matches Bessemer's framing and fal's creative-production customers.

A $16 billion headline on Bloomberg's numbers, with $800 million-plus annualized revenue cited by Bloomberg and summer rate limits described by Gur, suggests capacity—not model novelty—was the binding constraint. Thin gross margins reported by people familiar with inference economics mean scale and Nvidia ties matter as much as API breadth.

What to watch

Compute build-out and hiring beyond 185 employees, board governance with Bessemer's Goldberg, disclosure of utilization after the summer rate limits, and any shift toward fal-owned pretraining that Gur told Bloomberg is not near-term today.
